When cleaning is not possible
If the ceramic is cracked, melted or broken, the filter has to be replaced. Cleaning does not help then.
Why the filter clogs again
If the filter keeps clogging, the cause is often elsewhere, for example a faulty sensor, the driving profile or another engine fault. Cleaning alone is not enough then, the cause has to be found too.
